SCHOOL MISSION
Our mission is first grounded in our fundamental worldview of children. We believe that the most important phase of a human's life is early childhood, and it should be treated as such. More specifically, as a community empowerer, our methodology transcends our communities as we are laser focused on providing our students with specific academic and social skills necessary to build a foundation of practical learning.
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
KI Community School (KICS) is a community-centered micro-school network for students pre-k through 3rd grade with a focus on whole-brain development. In the Fall of 2020 we plan to launch the first school in Indianapolis that will have 10-15 students who will receive instruction from professional educators and a network of community teachers.
OUR APPROACH TO EDUCATION
FOCUSED LEARNING
KICS focuses on children Pre-K to 3rd Grade
Research shows that children develop their social and emotional skills in this critical period between 3-5 years old
KICS is a community based schooling program that combines a comprehensive curriculum with small, tightly-knit class frameworks to provide children with the tools necessary to become self-reliant and highly capable
FULL BRAIN DEVELOPMENT
KICS' process integrates individualized, peer and teacher interventions, with a multidisciplinary curriculum in an environment conducive to optimum growth
We have designed our curriculum using the latest research in neuroscience and brain development. We are intentional about increasing neural connections by focusing primarily on activities and exercises that enhance brain development in young children.
All day inclusive program, including before and after-care
Highly nutritious meals provided
Hybrid model that balances the need for human connection and the best aspects of technological learning
COMMUNITY DRIVEN
At KICS, we believe that community lead learning means stronger connections
Small class sizes are emphasized. KICS maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio, about 10:1
The KICS Board is composed of: Kheprw board members, vested community members, teacher representation, and a parent council. Smaller teams are dedicated to the areas of advice, operations and action.
Individual locations are managed by site leaders with council by teachers, parents and community.
