Seeking leaders and connectors in Indianapolis to partner with Kheprw Institute to build community and bring about change.
What is Community Wealth?
Community building is defined as those projects which seek to build new relationships among members in a community and develop change out of the connections these relationships provide for solving community defined problems. Significantly, community building focuses on utilizing the existing assets within a community and not the provision of services for resolving community problems.
Community Building Fellows will work with diverse communities with the goal of improving community confidence in problem solving in partnership with Kheprw Institute. We are specifically interested in those living in Indianapolis (Marion County), who have strong connections to: neighborhoods, LGBTQ population, Latina/Latino/Latine communities, the unhoused population, Black communities, the immigrant population, and those reentering society from incarceration. To be successful in this role, the fellow must have a passion for learning others’ stories, finding common ground, teamwork and supporting community efforts to make change happen.
The Community Building Fellowship is a 12-month contract position with a stipend of $9,600. We estimate that the work will take an average of 10 hours per week with the opportunity for renewal. Five fellows will be selected and will work independently and collaboratively to achieve team goals.
- Commit to around 10 hours a week for self-directed and assigned tasks
- Attend weekly fellowship cohort group meetings
- Experience and/or interest in working closely with community members
- High level of personal responsibility
