ABOUTHOMES FOR ALL INDY
Homes for All Indy is a program of the Kheprw Institute and a local chapter of Homes for All, a national network with the goal of protecting, defending, and expanding housing that is truly affordable and dignified for low-income and very low-income communities. We do this through three strategies:
- Organizing renters and homeowners
- Winning local policies that protect renters and homeowners
- Creating permanently affordable housing by forming community land trusts
Equitable Development Assembly
Second Thursdays, 6-8PM
Kheprw Institute, 3549 Boulevard Place
The Equitable Development Assembly is a movement to make Indianapolis a more equitable city around issues of housing, economic opportunity and transit. Our monthly meeting provides space for residents to discuss development that benefits all communities, gentrification-related issues and the ongoing mass transit build-out in Marion County. We learn from each other and take action together.

HOW ADVOCATES ARE FIGHTING TAX LAWS THAT HINDER COOPERATIVE HOUSING
In San Francisco’s Chinatown, community activists jumped in when a 21-unit building housing low-income tenants was threatened with demolition. But even after they pulled together financing to buy the building and convert it to a housing cooperative, they faced a major bureaucratic hurdle: persuading city leaders to tax it differently than commercial rental property.
